Blue Man Group has permanent theatrical productions in Las Vegas, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, New York and Berlin, and a North/South American Tour.
Astor Show Productions is seeking a part time Carpenter for the New York Production of Blue Man Group. Responsibilities include: performing preset duties, executing show cues as well as turnover & post show duties in a safe and professional manner, emergency repairs of scenery and props, assisting deck crew during changeover on multiple show days, work calls for projects as needed. Show carpenter will directly relate to and work with the stage run crew. Candidate should have thorough understanding of stage mechanics as well as strong carpentry and rigging skills. Theatrical Automations experience is desirable. Candidate must be self-motivated, innovative and enjoy working in a fast-paced and creative environment. 3+ years theatrical carpentry/props experience required. Must be able to climb ladders and lift 50 pounds.
This is a part time, hourly position, and candidates must have regular weekend availability. Position will be scheduled primarily on Saturday and Sunday with some weekday shifts as needed (primarily evenings). Part Time crew members must be flexible and available for shows during nights, weekends, the holiday season, and there is a Holiday Moratorium (Thanksgiving week, and then generally 2 weeks surrounding Christmas and New Year’s). There will also be occasional need for weekday maintenance show calls.
