Frequently Asked Questions - Official Site of Blue Man Group

FAQ

What is Blue Man Group all about?

Blue Man Group is a spectacular collision of music, comedy, theater and dance party.  It’s an unforgettable celebration of living life in full color.  Backed by a live rock band, three bald and blue men explore our cultural norms with wide-eyed wonder.  They poke fun at our collective quirks and remind us of how much we all have in common.

What is the appropriate age to bring my child to the theater?

The Blue Man Group show is designed to be a multi-generational entertainment experience, but we have some restrictions for very young children due to the percussive music, movement of the performers/props in the auditorium and as a courtesy to other patrons.

Boston and Chicago:

Children under three (3) years of age are not permitted. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theater.

New York:

We recommend the show to children ages three (3) and older. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theater.

Las Vegas and Orlando:

We recommend the show to children ages three (3) and older.  It is up to the Box Office or Front of House Manager to admit children under the age of three (3) into the theater. Children under age three (3) are admitted at no charge; however they will be required to sit on the lap of their parent or guardian.

What is the running time of the show?

The show runs approximately 90 minutes to 105 minutes with no intermission.

Is the show in English?

Blue Man Group is performed with no spoken words, so it’s perfect for all ages, languages and cultures.

Is the show the same in all locations?

The show is customized for each location based on the size and space of the venue.  In addition, the show is continually evolving with new music, new pieces and new instruments.

What is the poncho section?

The poncho section includes many of the rows closest to the stage. Patrons in this area are given ponchos to wear, because sometimes materials splash the audience. These substances are washable, but we suggest that you do not wear anything that needs dry cleaning.

Is there a dress code?

There is no specific dress code for the show, though we suggest comfortable clothing.

Las Vegas: Closed toe shoes are required to attend the Behind-the-Blue Experience.

What time should I arrive at the theater?

Please leave time when you plan your trip.  All guests and their bags are subject to security screenings and/or searches upon arrival at the theater.

Boston:  Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain time and The Charles Playhouse Lounge is open 60 minutes prior to curtain. We recommend you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the show and that groups of 15 or more arrive 30-40 minutes prior to curtain.

Chicago: Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain time.  We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to show time.

New York: Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain time.  We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to show time.

Las Vegas

Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.  We recommend arriving earlier to allow for travel time between parking and the venue.

Orlando:

Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.  We suggest arriving at Universal Orlando Resort at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the show to allow enough time to walk from the resort parking structure –about a 15 minute walk.

On Halloween Horror Nights and Mardi Gras event nights, we recommend arriving to the Universal Orlando Resort 60 minutes prior to the start of the show.

I am sensitive to strobe lights. Should I be concerned?

Strobe lights are used during portions of the show. If people sensitive to strobe lights decide to attend the show, they should alert the House Manager when they arrive.

Boston, Chicago, New York and Las Vegas: Upon request, a member of the house staff will help the patron leave the theater before the strobes occur.

Orlando: Patrons can leave the theater and watch portions of the show at the screens in the lobby.  If you’ve already purchased your ticket but have a medical condition that is of concern, we can refund your ticket or rebook another member in your party.  Please contact the Box Office at (407) 258-3626.

What kind of security is in place at Blue Man theaters?

Blue Man Group is dedicated to fostering a safe and secure environment for our guests. All guests and their bags are subject to security screenings and/or searches upon arrival at the theater. Weapons of any kind, regardless of permit, are not allowed in the theater. The list of prohibited items includes, but is not limited to: firearms, knives, batons, mace, pepper spray, brass knuckles, Tasers, or any other items that security personnel deem dangerous or threatening to public safety. By tendering a ticket and entering the theater, guests consent to such searches and waive any related claims. Any guest in possession of a weapon, without exception, will be denied entry and asked to leave the premises.  Blue Man Group will not be responsible for the on-site storage of weapons. We appreciate your cooperation.
